Born and raised in southern California, Leslie currently resides in a small mountain community surrounded by Angeles National Forest. Primarily self-taught, Leslie uses acrylics on clayboard. For leslie, half the fun of creating her artwork is in the gathering of reference material, from working with animals, hiking and camping, to plein air painting. After being in charge of the caring and management of wildlife housed at a nature center for several years, Leslie now volunteers at a facility with non-releasable wildlife closer to home. Leslie works with birds of prey, snakes, including three species of rattlesnakes, bobcats, cougars, wolves and other animals. Field research, as well as the birds and animals she works with, provides reference material for her paintings. She is a member in both the Society of Animal Artists and Women Artists of the West, and Worldwide Nature Artists Group.
